Our Story

We’re a family-owned business, founded by Katie Gaible in October 2020. Located on Orcas Island we draw inspiration from the incredible beauty that surrounds us. Since Orcas is such a tourist destination we like to think of Salish as many people's Local Yarn Store Away From Home. Our goal for the shop has always been to create a welcoming, friendly, and helpful place where people feel at ease. Whether you are looking for your next project, need some knitting support or just want to share your latest FO, we are here for you!

We offer a wide selection of fibers (including our own hand-dyed!). Of course there is a lot of wool. But we tried to curate something for everyone and every budget so we range from crafty cotton to camel/silk/alpaca blends. We also like to highlight local yarns and crafts! From local wool to handmade cards we love to show off what our little community can do.

Thanks for visiting us online! Please reach out if you have any questions and we hope to see you in person soon!
